What Is Asphalt Patching?

Throw-and-go: With this method, cold patch asphalt is poured into a hole or crack and compacted by traffic. It’s a quick emergency fix not intended for permanent repair and typically performed in the winter months when hot mix asphalt is not available.
Throw-and-roll: This method is used for emergency patches in winter or adverse weather conditions and is similar to throw-and-go, but the asphalt repair company will compact the patch with truck tires or a roller to make the patch last a little longer.
Semi-permanent patching: This pothole repair method involves removing water and debris from the damaged area, squaring off the edges to create clean vertical faces, filling the hole with asphalt, and compacting it properly.
Full-depth patching: A full-depth patch involves removing the entire depth of damaged pavement and base material before replacing it with new asphalt. It is the most thorough and durable method but also the most time-consuming and expensive.
